FENIX is a super opaque nanotech material - is an innovative interior design product that combines elegant aesthetic solutions with state-of-the-art technological performance. It is produced using next-generation resin and with the help of nanotechnologies which provide this new material with novel properties, opening up new avenues in the field of interior design.

With low light reflectivity, its surface is extremely opaque, anti-fingerprint and features a very pleasant soft touch. Thanks to the use of nanotechnologies, FENIX NTM thermally heals any micro-scratches, as its name indicates.

In addition, FENIX NTM is highly resistant to scratches, abrasion, rubbing and dry heat. It also withstands impacts, acid-based solvents and household reagents. It significantly reduces the bacterial load making its surface hygienic and easy to clean. It is also liquid repellent and mould-proof. 

Thanks to its special characteristics, FENIX NTM can be used for both horizontal and vertical surfaces and a very wide range of typical interior design applications, both for home and business markets: kitchens, bathrooms, as a material for worktops, coating shutters, doors and walls, for splashbacks; hospitality, healthcare, as well as furnishings and fittings such as tables, bookcases, chairs, partitioning.
Its surface characteristics make it a high-performance material and, furthermore, it can represent a valid alternative to other materials, such as solid surfaces and glass, with the added advantage of easy workability. 

Ever since it was launched, FENIX NTM has been a “must” for a large number of companies for their new kitchen and fitting out projects thanks to its innovative and high-tech nature. It is not only a functional material satisfying the large number of day-to-day demands but also provides a new language to reveal its unique identity.

1 nanometre = one millionth millimetre (one thousand-millionth of a metre)
10 times the size of a hydrogen atom, slighter bigger than a small molecule.
On this dimensional scale, the physical, chemical and biological behaviour and characteristics of the material change drastically and present surprising properties. 
This is exactly what nanotechnologies do: explore matter with resolutions greater than one thousand-millionth of a metre up to interacting with a single atom.

Observing nature has taught us about its ability to recreate itself up to the finest level i.e. atoms. Here are some examples.


Lotus plant

Thanks to the particular structure of the molecules on the surface of its petals, water droplets bead up on the lotus plant leaves and wash away any dirt. 
By observing the “lotus effect”, new products have been designed such as special paints for exteriors or impermeable textures.

CERTIFICATIONS

FENIX NTM® has obtained NSF, Greenguard IAQ and IMO MED certifications (for a thickness of 0.9mm):

NSF
NSF certifies that the material is suitable for contact with foodstuffs.
With its Head Office in Ann Arbor, Michigan, NSF International is an independent international organisation for technical and scientific consultancy in the health and safety sector. NSF registration guarantees users that the formulation and composition are compliant with food safety regulations. 

Greenguard IAQ - Indoor Air Quality
Greenguard IAQ - Indoor Air Quality certification ensures that products designed for use in indoor spaces meet strict chemical emission limits. 
Greenguard IAQ is an independent, not-for-profit organisation that verifies and certifies the low level of chemical emissions of products and is an international benchmark for many sustainable building programmes. 

IMO MED
FENIX NTM, with a thickness of 0.9 mm, is certified in accordance with the IMO MED marine regulations as a material suitable for marine applications, in terms of fire resistance and heat release. 
IMO MED is an international marine certification concerning safety for vessels.


SUSTAINABILITY

Long-lasting
Furniture coated with FENIX NTM is very hardy… and a long life means less waste, more efficient use of resources and greater global energy saving. In other terms more environmentally-friendly.

Disposal and recycling
FENIX NTM is not a dangerous product: it is made of paper and thermosetting resins.
At the end of its life cycle, it can be burned in authorised urban waste incinerators or used as energy recovery. Residual ash can be treated as solid urban waste (EAK Code 120105).
In the Arpa Industriale factory, FENIX NTM waste is used as fuel to generate part of the energy required for production.


HANDLING & CLEANING

Easy to clean
FENIX is hygienic and easy to clean. Opaque anti-fingerprint surface. It has antistatic properties -therefore it does not attract dust - and significantly reduces the bacterial load making.
No specific handling is required: all that is required is a damp cloth, with hot water or delicate detergents. Almost all household detergents and disinfectants can be used.

Micro-scratches are repaired by heat
One of the most innovative characteristics of FENIX concerns micro-scratches: if the material structure is not damaged beyond repair, they can be heat-repaired any number of times.
Furthermore, it is possible to remove small abrasions using a melamine sponge immediately or after 24 hours.
